IF he jumped, it's like how you're almost always safer being inside a car than outside it. You could survive only to have the plane fall on you. You know they're gonna grill the guy to make sure he wasn't part of some terrorist act. Not even a burnt or torn bit of clothing and he's walking after a fall from height? Boeing as a company has made questionable decisions in terms of safety,however the B787-8 is a very safe and comfortable aircraft so I do not believe it is the fault of the manufacturer,I believe this is due to possible negligence of the company,Air India whose majority stake holder is the TATA sons group (74.9%) and minority stakeholders Singapore International Airlines (25.1%).Singapore International Airlines takes care of operational knowledge and expertise, extend to personnel exchange, and collaborate on route planning and services.Tata sons group take over the other parts.Now it could also be the pilot’s fault but we’ll see about that later.It is worth noting that this aircraft was bought when Air India was owned by the Government of India and Tata took over on Jan 1/Jan 2 of 2022 and no previously appointed employees were removed till 2023.Im no expert on this situation but all I can say is to all future travellers to not worry .Fatality rate is just 0.6.Not zero but low so stop worrying.Nandri

and every modern airplane has camera views on IFE for front, fwd facing, undercarriage etc. these can very easily be streamed to ATC and recorded.

I Had travelled to Hong Kong on a Air india 787 dreamliner in April 2025. That aircraft was in similar condition to the one that crashed- AC not working, entertainment system inoperative, broken seats. 
As a minimum first action , air india should ground its 787 fleet with immediate effect.

For me this is neither plausible 

- before the impact: he would have had to open the door right after takeoff within a few seconds, and even then the jump would be lethal (and it doesn't fit to his statement with the bodies). 

- after the impact: there was a huge explosion&amp;fireball directly after impact connected with a disintegration of the entire airframe. There was no door left to open anymore and even if, it seems unrealistic to survive this without being affected by the fireball.

Guys in May I was travelling from Delhi to Paris from Air India and our Pilot was Capt. Sumeet Sabharwal. I remember his name because I have a friend with same surname. Our flight was at 3:55 am but while boarding we got to know that our flight has been changed because the pilot reported some technical faults and hence our flight got delayed for 3 hours. When I heard about yesterday's tragedy I was shell-shocked when I got to know the pilot's name. 

Whole point of sharing this incident is that Pilot's have been warning and changing flights and someone yesterday told me that these flight's barely get buffer time. Honestly I don't know the real reason of the crash but I would like to say that if pilot says the flight is delayed due to technical issues, weather issues, flight needs some buffer time be patient. Because Pilot's and crew members are not only saving their own life but they are also saving yours.

I’ve seen people speculating the RAT was shown deployed. I have no idea how you can definitively say that considering the area of the video people are saying they see it is like 5 pixels. 

Pilots, if you’re losing lift and airspeed at such a low altitude, are you dumping the flaps to prevent a stall and potentially soften the crash? Leaving them up to reduce drag and potentially extend the glide? Or are you so stunned by what is happening so quickly that it never enters your mind?
